 Upendo Friends School
In the remote village of Mateves in East Africa, many very poor families barely survive on less
than a dollar a day. And the children of this village – some of them orphans – have
all the potential in the world, but no opportunity.
That is until recently, when an amazing woman named Isabella Mwampamba started the
Upendo Friends School in 2006. Isabella started the school to do nothing short of transforming
the lives of these poor children. She knew that with education, the cycle of poverty finally can be broken.
For the first three years, Isabella generously gave up her own home to give the kids a place to learn.
Then in 2009, Graham Knope (Eaglecom's President), Carol Miller (Eaglecom's Creative Director) and their children visited the school and were inspired to fund the construction of new classrooms up to Grade 4, a playground and school supplies.
Our support has continued ever since, and currently, Eaglecom Foundation is supporting Upendo on a monthly basis, covering most of the school's operating expenses, including teachers' salaries, nutritious meals for the children, and school books and supplies.
But more help is urgently needed! The school needs ongoing funds just to keep things running, as well as capital funds to build and expand so more children can be served.
This is an exciting opportunity to have a profound, immediate, direct impact on the lives of so many children who deserve a future.
